Surveys undertaken:

In July members of Himal Prakriti  [B]  [B] Himal Prakriti, located in the Himalyan state of Uttarakhand, India was set up to promote nature conservation and sustainable livelihoods. More details are available on this Website and Maati Sangathan and volunteers helped distribute some relief material to flood and disaster affected communities in the lower Gori Valley. Subsequently in July and August Maati and Himal Prakriti undertook surveys of 8 villages which also found themselves affected by the continuing heavy rain and rain induced landslides.
Some details of the surveys undertaken are below:
  1. Survey on the 19-20 June along the Gori Ganga from Madkot to Jauljibi to assesing impact. A brief report on the spate along the Gori river basin, North Eastern Kumaon, Uttarakhand-15th-17th June 2013
  2. Survey from 5 to 9th July along the Kali and the Lower Darma valleys to assess the impact of the flood on communities and HEPs in the region and relief work.
  3. Survey from the 13th to 16th July from Jauljibi to Madkot to assses loss of road access, damage to agricultural land, livestock and homes, need for immediate and long term relief, precautionary measures for the monsoons ahead and status of current relief operations.
  4. In August the following villages were survey of Sennar, Pyangtey, Gharganiya, Dhapa, Jimmighat, Talla Dummar, Phalyanti, Kainthi, Timal Khet, Ranthi, following these surveys relief distribution was organized for families in need of support.
